“The art of teaching is the art of assisting discovery.”
- Mark Van Doren

Teaching Philosophy

My philosophy on education is derived from the countless experiences that I have had throughout my career.  From a large class size to one-on-one private lessons I focus on cultivating an open environment where both the students and teacher are equal participants in the learning process. Some of my educational goals include: reducing hierarchies between teacher and student in order to emphasize the practice of learner-centered teaching, serving as a guide to help students answer open-ended musical questions, and fostering an environment that encourages creative thinking skills that is conducive to students growing emotionally, musically, mentally, and socially.
